Coincidence?

The Mets have lost 5 of there last 7 games. In that time Reyes, LoDuca, Wright, and Floyd have all been slumping. Carlos Beltran is injured and so is Anderson Hernandez. In my opinion if Reyes can not get on base the Mets can not score runs (especially with Beltran out). So the question is "Why is Reyes slumping so badly?"
I think I just may have an answer. For the first 12 games of the season Reyes was hitting very well. He went 15 for 54, which is good enough for a 2.77 average. His defense was awesome, and the double play tandem of Reyes and Hernandez was just spectacular. During that time Reyes and Hernandez have gotten very close. They even started to look a bit like each other. On April 17th Hernandez got injured. Since that time Reyes has been slumping. He has just 4 hits in 28 ABs, which is good enough for a .143 average. So this may all just be a coincidence but the numbers show that with Hernandez by his side Reyes is a better hitter.
