"Enter Sandman"

"Enter Sandman" is a song written by the rock band Metallica but more importantly it has been the entrance music for Yankee closer Mariano Rivera since 1997. On Monday night the new Mets closer Billy Wagner entered the game to the very same strings, and to say the least it has many Yankee fans ticked off. Now this is an issue that I did not plan to write about but it seems to be getting a lot of attention.
First off Billy Wagner has been using this song for the past ten years. It has been his song longer than it has been Rivera’s. Rivera does not even have a clue who Metallica is and does not even like rock music. Billy should not and will not change this song. He has a personal connection with Metallica and likes the song a lot. In all actuality I this whole thing is pointless. It is a song that relaxes both pitchers and they like it.
If Yankee fans think that Wagner using "Enter Sandman" as his entrance song is an insult then us Met fans should look at Randy Johnson wearing number 41 as an insult to Tom Seaver. But we don't, it simply is not big deal. Players’ use identical jersey numbers, players imitate batting stances, and players listen to the same music. Please everyone make a comment to this post stating your thoughts on this issue. I truly want to know what everyone thinks.
