The X-man On The Right Trach

The New York Mets sent Steve Trachsel to the mound yesterday (10:00 PM EST) and after 2 hours and 40 minutes he has another win. He is now 2 and 1 on the season with a 3.31 ERA and 10 and 4 against the Giants lifetime. Steve pitched six solid innings allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and 1 run (Barry Bonds HR # 710). Trach also had 2 strikeouts.

His counter-part Jamey Wright pitched very well. Wright allowed 4 runs on 10 hits over 8 innings. 1 run came from the speed of Reyes. The others off of a solo shot from the X-Man, Xavier Nady in the 7th inning. Then a 2 run bomb into
McCovey Cove from Cliff Floyd in the 8th. Kazuo Matsui also had is second consecutive multi-hit game.

Nady's bat was the difference maker in this game as was his arm. He made a tremendous throw to cut down Lance Niekro at second base. Dauner Sanchez pitched for the first time in 4 games and boy oh boy was he good. He pitched 2 innings allowing just 1 walk and 2 hits. Billy Wagner came on in the 9th to close it out and he did so, recording his 5th save of the year.

The final score was Mets 4 - Giants 1
WP: Steve Trachsel (2-1) 3.31 ERA
LP: Jamey Wright (2-1) 3.34 ERA
SV: Billy Wagner (5) 0.90 ERA
