Glav Gets First Win as Bats Come To Life

Tommy Glavine has never had a win against the Phillies since becoming a Met. But the Mets brought their bats to the game today and won it for Glavine. Glavine pitched 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs. All three runs coming via HR. He struck out 4 and walked 3. Not only did Glav do it on the mound but he also did it in the field, making some nice plays, and in the box recording a single, a walk, 2 RBIs, and a double.

Every Met starter recorded at least 1 hit. Jose Reyes, Paul LoDuca, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, David Wright and Xavier Nady all had 2 hits. They had a combined 9 RBIs. Matsui had a hit, walk and 2 runs scored. Floyd had a hit and a run. Woody (Chris Woodward) also had a hit. In all the Mets scored 13 runs on 17 hits. The infield played great defense, warranting at least one Webjem on Baseball Tonight.

The back end of the Met bullpen finished the game for Glavine. Heath Bell made his season debut. He allowed 3 hits and 1 run but struck out 2. Jorge Julio finished the game allowing a hit and no runs with 1 strikeout.
