Wright Propels Mets to Victory

Today the Mets and the Marlins sent great pitchers to the mound and as expected there was an absolute pitchers duel. Glavine pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs, and 5 strikeouts. His 2 runs came in the 6th inning. Willis pitched 8 innings allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, and 4 strikeouts. His 2 runs came in the 7th off of a David Wright 2 run triple. Duaner Sanchez pitches 2 solid innings. And Wagner pitches a shaky 9th for the win.

With the game tied Marlins manager Joe Girardi brings in a 20-year-old rookie to pitch the 9th inning. And he folded under pressure, allowing a leadoff walk to Carlos Beltran. A single to Delgado, Beltran moves to 3rd and for the second time in the game David Wright comes through with a sac fly to win the game.

Winning Pitcher: Billy Wagner (1-0) 3.00 ERA

Loosing Pitcher: Carlos Martinez (0-1) 3.86 ERA
