A Disappointing Victory...

The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 9-7 today, however the victory cost the Mets way too much...

Bannister took the ball and pitched well even though he gave up 3 runs. Bannister also had 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and 1 run. However in the 5th inning after hitting a double and driving in two runs, he injured himself rounding third on a Kaz Matsui double. He scored the run but injured his hamstring. The severity of his injury is unknown, but from what I can see it looks bad.

Heilman took the ball and pitched 2 innings allowing 1 run. But the Mets quickly came back and regained the lead, scoring 3 runs on 3 singles by Endy Chavez, Jose Reyes, and Julio Franco, and a double by David Wright.

Billy Wagner came in to close out the game for the Mets and gets 2 outs allowing just 1 hit. Just as it looks like the Mets are about to take the series, Moises Alou reaches on throwing error by David Wright. Omar Vizquel scores. Barry Bonds pinch hits and Mets Manager Willie Randolph make an unbelievably stupid decision to have Wagner pitch to Bonds with first base open and Bonds burns them with a HR to tie the game.

The score remained tied until the 11th inning when Ray Castro singles, Endy Chavez bunts him over to second, Chris Woodward doubles Castro in, and Reyes doubles Woodward in to score 2 runs. Darren Oliver finished the game pitching 1.1 innings for the "W".

Even though the Mets won, this game was very disappointing to watch. With the injury to Bannister, the bad call by Willie and the blown save for Wagner this game was just disappointing for me.
