Cardinal Pitching

The Mets are about to start a three game series with the Yankees of the National League, the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinal pitching is one of the best as it contains the NL Cy Young Award Winner, Chris Carpenter. However the Mets may have lucked out as they will miss Carpenter this time.

In game one the Cardinals plan to send Jeff Suppan to the mound. Suppan is a 6'2" right hander with good stuff. Thus far this season Suppan is 4 and 2 with a 4.58 ERA. However his ERA does not exemplify just how well he is pitching. He has won his last 4 starts and is coming off a good outing in which has fast ball had some good life on it.

Mark Mulder is a 6'6" left hander. He will start game two of the series. So far this season Mulder is sporting a 4 and 1 record, with a 4.27 ERA. He is 3 and 0 in Bush Stadium with a 3.38 ERA. He is coming off a solid outing against the Diamondbacks where he gave up 3 runs on on six hits, striking out 6.

The third pitcher to face the Mets will be Jason Marquis. He is probably the worst pitcher on the staff this season. He is 4 and 4 with a 5.33 ERA. He walks way too many batters but has good stuff and can work his way out of trouble if need be. He snapped a 4 game loosing streak in his last outing.
