The Grimsley Reaper

The Mets and the Diamondbacks faced off in an absolute pitchers duel tonight. Pedro and Brandon Webb pitched their hearts out but both got no decisions. The game went to extra innings tied 0-0 but the Mets prevailed over Jason Grimsley in the bottom of the 13th inning as Jose Valentin hit a lead-off double and scored on an Endy Chavez walk-off single...

Several Key Notes...
Jose Valentin has played phenomenally at 2B. He made a sparkling diving catch in tonight's game and has been hitting like he did while he was with the White Sox...Carlos Delgado is in a big time slump but it came at just the rite time as Cliff Floyd is starting to get very hot...Endy Chavez has been absolutely tremendous this season. He has done everything the Mets can ask him for and a hell of a lot more...Carlos Beltran fouled a pitch off of his knee in tonight's game and left after the AB. He has been diagnosed with a bruised knee and is being reevaluated by the team doctor, he may miss some time warranting some more playing time for Endy Chavez...Lastings Milledge did not do well at the plate tonight but then again not many guys did. He did however make a great throw to gun down Craig Counsel at third base...Pedro pitched 8 strong innings without allowing a run while striking out 9. This is the first time Pedro has gone a full month making 6 starts and not receiving a victory...Billy Wagner was dominant for two innings...Duaner Sanchez has pitched remarkably well for the Mets and continued that trend tonight. He pitched 3 scoreless innings allowing just two hits and recorded the win...Brandon Webb is a very dominant pitcher and is having a Cy Young caliber year thus far. The kid has real talent and is starting to get some rightfully deserved attention by the media...Jorge Julio got back at the Mets for trading him as he retired Carlos Delgado, David Wright, and Cliff Floyd 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 12th..Jason Grimsley killed the Diamondbacks night!
