Mets Get Smacked

The Mets lost last night. Miguel Batista pitched a complete game and allowed just two runs, one earned. However it was not Batista that beat the Mets...they beat themselfs. The Mets left so many guys on base last night it was redicilous. They recorded 9 hits including 4 lead-off doubles and only plated one run on an error. The only other run scored came by Jose Valentin in the 9th as he hit a 1 out HR.

Alay Soler pitched horribly. He allowed 2 runs in the first inning and seven runs over 5 innings. He did not have his fast ball last night and he knew that so he started off the game pitching predominatly break in balls. Darren Oliver pitched well in relief as he pitched 4 scoreless innings allowing just one hit.
