Norfolk Tides Triple-A International League John Maine picked up his first victory as a member of the Mets organization, pitching seven strong innings Wednesday as the Tides snapped Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s 10-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory. Maine (1-3) struck out nine and held the Red Barons to a run on five hits, taking a shutout into the seventh before Brennan King slugged a solo home run. Juan Tejeda drove in two runs and Lastings Milledge scored twice for Norfolk, who plated three of their runs with sacrifice flies. Notes: Heath Bell worked a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save. … Milledge extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a fifth-inning single. … Binghamton Mets Double-A Eastern League Hits were in short supply again for the B-Mets on Tuesday, as Binghamton managed just five hits in a 4-0 loss to visiting Akron. One day after being one-hit by the Aeros’ Nick Pesco and two relievers, the Mets went quietly against starter Rafael Perez and three relievers, with the exception of Andy Wilson, who doubled twice in four at-bats. Bryan Edwards (1-2) started for Binghamton and allowed three runs in five innings, including a pair of home runs to Akron cleanup hitter Ryan Mulhern. Notes: Edwards struck out seven and walked one in the effort. … Henry Owens struck out the side around a walk in the ninth inning. St. Lucie Mets Single-A Florida State League Ambiorix Concepcion‘s game-winning two-run homer capped a five-run ninth inning for the St. Lucie Mets, who rallied to defeat the Jupiter Hammerheads Wednesday, 5-3. Blanked through eight innings by Jupiter pitching, Gary Carter‘s club erupted against Hammerheads pitcher Harvey Garcia. Corey Coles stroked a bases-loaded single and Yasmil Bucce scored on a passed ball before Jonathan Malo grounded into a fielder‘s choice that included an error by former Mets farmhand Grant Psomas. Concepcion then followed with his first home run of the year, a two-run shot to right field that clinched the walk-off victory. Notes: Alay Soler started for St. Lucie and struck out eight in six innings. He allowed one run and three hits, walking one, and has an 0.86 ERA. … Rafael Cova (2-0) picked up the victory with a scoreless ninth inning of relief, striking out three around a hit. … Jupiter’s losing streak extended to eight games. Hagerstown Suns Single-A South Atlantic League The Suns engaged in a marathon performance Wednesday at Lakewood, playing to a 7-7 tie for six hours and three minutes before the game was suspended at 12:41 a.m. Thursday. Hagerstown had 12 hits but allowed 21 in the contest, which featured three errors by each team and will be resumed on May 6 as part of a doubleheader. Notes: Fernando Martinez had three hits, including two doubles, and a run scored in nine at-bats for Hagerstown. … Nick Evans and Hector Pellot also doubled. … Suns starter Eric Brown allowed six runs and 10 hits in 2-2/3 innings.
